The 5th graders made printmaking plates from cardboard & glue. We made prints & then crayon rubbings that we painted with watercolors. I love printmaking because you can use the plates over & over again for other projects.
For this project, the 6th graders put together stacks with a shape of their choice & color of their choice. Once they picked a color, they painted tints & shades of that color. They made their stacks pop out using foam spacers!
This project was inspired by Demuth's The Figure Five in Gold. They had to do one collage with geometric shapes & organic shapes. Also one had to be cool colors & one had to be warm colors. We used numbers, letters & words to enhance the collage, bringing focus to certain parts of it. They did a great job!
The kids are great! They are young enough to make an impression, yet old enough to have their own way of thinking, their own style, their own being. These kids are cool, funny, sweet & just wonderful! Here is a project I did with the fifth graders: Crayon Paper Batik. They loved it & did an awesome job on it. Enjoy!
